Classes at Heartland

Snow is falling and the radio is playing Christmas music!  Tis the season to create.  I will be using this blog as an additional form of instructions for my classes and kits at Heartland Paper.

Gingerbread Houses
November 19 from 10a-1p

Necessities: sandpaper, trimmer, pen or pencil, glue dots and pop dots, adhesive, mod-podge, brush, small scissors, 1/8" scor-tape very helpful
1.Trace wood shapes onto paper (don't cut now - cut while paint is drying to save time.)
2. Prep wood:  Sand edges and paint white.
3. Cut paper about 1/4" inside the traced line so that you will have a nice white outline.
4. Mod podge pieces onto wood.
5. Embellish each house and tree as shown.  I used the sandpaper to distress the houses and some of the embellishments.  Pop dot candy canes, doors, window shutters and awnings to add dimension if you like.
For this house: Use 1/8" scor-tape to adhere the ric-rack. Modpodge the chipboard diecut and door on the reverse side of the coordinating paper and let dry, trim and pop-dot on to the house.  Pop dot the mini peppermint to the door and gluedot on the white starburst (not shown). Glue dot on the lights and peppermint.  Stuff the tulle into the chimney.

For this house:
Mod-podge the paper doors onto the chipboard.  Use 1/8" scor-tape to adhere the turquoise edging to the awnings and pop-dot for dimension.  Layer the roof starting with the white scallop edging, then the scallop paper and put the fancy edging on the top edge with points above like a railing.(Not shown)

For this house:
Pop dot the door and the shutters.

Base board: Trim the three dot pieces to the same height and mod-podge onto the board, matching as best as possible.  When dry, apply the brown vinyl.

Enjoy.

Robert's is Having a Heart Transplant!

As a New Year is knocking on the door, many changes are happening all around.  Heartland Paper will be closing in January with many customers saddened by the loss of a great source of inspiration and friendship.

To fill this void, several teachers are forming an alliance to teach at Robert's Crafts. This blog will be my personal listing for classes that I will be teaching at Robert's. You will be able to signup and pay for my classes through Paypal.  (You can pay with a Credit Card through Paypal even if you do not have a Paypal account.)

Eventually, there will be a website with the classes that past Heartland teachers will be offering at Robert's. The teachers that are teaching the first quarter at Robert's are:  Kathy Green - card; Erinne Roundy - Embossing; Tiffany Smith - multi media; Mandi Morgan - multi media; Tya Smith - Scor-pal and EZ Scrappin; Megan Sevy - multi media; and me, Pat Lingwall - wood and other crafts.

We have two open houses planned at Robert's locations. The first open house will be at the Centerville Robert's on Tuesday, January 11th and then at South Jordan on Thursday, January 13th.   Both will be held from 6-8pm.  The teachers will be there with samples of their classes.  You can sign up and pay each teacher (with a check or cash) as Robert's will not be responsible for class payment.
